Job Description:
Our Ottawa based government client is seeking a Database Modeller / IM Modeller for a long term contract. (3 yrs with 2 optional 1 yr periods).
All candidates must possess Enhanced Reliability security clearance.
Please nopte: Database Modeller / IM Modeller resources must be able to prepare documentation, attend and contribute to meetings and provide training in both official languages.

Responsibilities include:
1. Capturing requirements from business client, conducting analysis, producing and documenting data models for corporate data warehouse, data mart, ODS, and business Intelligence projects;
2. Developing data models based on data architecture and modeling design principles;
3. Integrating CSC’s data from different internal sources into Data warehouse;
4. Analyzing and evaluating alternative data architecture solutions to meet business problems and needs;
5. Developing and maintaining scripts codes allowing data conversion from different data sources and developing, applying de-normalization activity;
6. Developing, testing and maintaining Extract, Transform and Load (ETL) between the DWS and data source, cubes, Data Marts and partners;
7. Developing strategies for ETL practices & usage of automated tools;
8. Contributing to Configuration and Change Management services by identifying, analyzing, testing and validating database structure changes prior to their release into the production environment;
9. Planning and directing migration of changes from the development environment to the QA, production, and Disaster Recovery environments. Participating in change management meetings.
10. Participating in problems resolution by analyzing, investigating problems; coordinating remedial maintenance with external and internal service providers; Developing and testing suggested fixes; promoting fixes as required and documenting resolution;
11. Providing input & participating on the refinement of data architectures;
12. Participating in the development of data modeling and metadata policies and procedures
13. Providing assistance to business and project teams related to data issues and data analysis concepts;
14. Evaluating performance of data warehouse design and configuration data marts and subject-specific areas;
15. Evaluating procedures and methods, identifying and documenting database content, structuring and developing/maintaining data dictionary.

The ideal candidate will have::
  • a minimum of 10 years experience as a Database Modeller / IM Modeller
  • a minimum of 5 years of experience developing scripts using SQL and PL/SQL
  • a minimum of 5 years of experience developing Oracle stored packages/procedures
  • a minimum of 5 years of experience designing, developing, and maintaining ETL (Extraction, Transformation, Load) scripts in the Data Warehouse environment
  • a minimum of 5 years of experience designing Enterprise data warehouse architecture
  • a minimum of 5 years of experience designing developing and maintaining conceptual logical and physical data model.
  • a minimum of 5 years of Oracle Database Modeling experience a Data Warehouse environment, of which a minimum of 3 years must be using Oracle 10g
  • experience in designing and maintaining data warehouse schemas and data mart solutions as well as relational and multidimensional database structures
  • experience documenting database architecture, environments and procedures in a data warehouse environment.
  • development experience with Oracle Designer; experience in development of data modeling and metadata standards and procedures as well as experience developing and maintaining a data dictionary
